Windsor Heights is a close-knit community in the Des Moines metropolitan area. It is bordered by Urbandale to the north, Clive to the west, West Des Moines to the south and Des Moines to the east. Windsor Heights real estate consists mainly of established neighborhoods.
Windsor Heights has a community center, numerous parks and a dog park. The largest park – Colby Park – hosts the community’s annual 4th of July celebration, concerts and other gatherings. Walnut Creek Trail runs through the city and connects with other trail systems that run throughout Des Moines. Shopping and dining can be found along University Avenue.
Windsor Heights is divided between the Des Moines and West Des Moines school districts. Students residing west of 70th Street attend schools in the West Des Moines Community School District, while those east of 70th Street attend Des Moines Public Schools.
