Community Details

Located north of Des Moines, Ankeny is the seventh largest and fastest growing city in Iowa. It is widely recognized as a top city for families and an overall great place to live. It is also a great place to work, as it is home to the headquarters of Casey’s General Stories, a large John Deere factory and more. Ankeny real estate is diverse, but the new construction subdivisions are notable and impressive.

Recreation

Ankeny boasts over 800 acres of parks and other recreational facilities. It is also home to around 100 miles of popular bike trails. For golf, Ankeny offers the public Otter Creek Golf Course and the private Ankeny Golf & Country Club. 

For shopping and dining, the District at Prairie Trail offers boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars. There are also numerous popular breweries (Firetrucker and Mistress Brewing Company) in the city.

CULTURE

Education

Ankeny is served by the Ankeny Community School District. The district currently maintains 16 school buildings that make up two, complete “feeder” systems. There are two high schools — Ankeny High School and Ankeny Centennial High School. Private education offerings include Ankeny Christian Academy and St. Luke the Evangelist Catholic School. Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) is also based in Ankeny.
